A text to phoneme translator
Spoken English words may be analysed into phonemes - basic language dependent sounds. There are approximately 60 such sounds in English. Written English words may be analysed into characters (character groups may be more appropriate (e.g. 'ch' has a different sound from the combination of the sounds associated with 'c' and 'h' )). There is a link, but not a direct correspondance between the written word and the spoken sounds. The purpose of this project is to analyse text into sounds.
